Potatoes are one of the main foundations of our kitchen. We use them both as a side dish and as the main raw material of excellent dishes. How can we shorten the time needed to cook them? Our ancestors knew it well, we can learn it again.

Do you cook potatoes in a paper? This is certainly one of the ways to largely shorten the necessary time. Maybe you don’t have such a pot, or you are a little afraid to use it (and you are definitely not alone). Then it has to be a series of other tricks that we can find in the notes of our grandmothers and which are literally passed from generation to generation.

Butter can do spells

One of the easiest tricks is adding a little butter to the water in which you cook the potatoes. What happens? Of course, the fat dissolves with the rising temperature, but remains on the surface. This can cause an interesting effect that will shorten the necessary time of boiling. The water level will increase the point of its boiling by a little. We will not insist that this will shorten the cooking time in half, but when we hurry, every minute we get for good is suitable.

Will improve the taste and keep the potatoes together

In this case, butter also has another big advantage, namely a contribution to better taste of boiled potatoes, which also wrap, thus preventing them from being easily disintegrated, or gluing – although the glued potatoes are already much boiled. Together with one known TV cook, we can also recommend: Who does not have butter at home can pour oil there. It doesn’t really matter, the result will be the same.

What else can help to cook potatoes faster? Apparently we do not have to discuss that the smaller pieces of potatoes are, the faster they will cook. And if you are real perfectionists who make sure that one potato cube is the other, they will be cooked not only quickly but also uniformly. This is certainly our main goal.
Potatoes are cooked in water, we know. But did you think that we do not have to put them in cold water, which we will then heat with them on the stove? Before you can peel them, let the water boil in the kettle, which then pour the potatoes. You will really save a lot of time, because the potatoes will be able to start cooking immediately.

A bit like a papon

What is the magic of a paper? After all, in perfect sealing of the pot of the pot, including water. This will increase the pressure inside the container, increase the boiling point, and thus the shortening of the time required for cooking. A little similar principle, albeit at less intensity, is also achieved by covering the pots with an ordinary lid. This step will also reduce energy consumption.
