The Ministry of Health (MZ) wants to ban the use of solariums for persons under 18 years of age for proven carcinogenic risk of UV radiation. This stems from the draft amendment to the Act on the Protection, Support and Development of Public Health, which the Ministry of Health submitted to the interdepartmental comment procedure (MPK).
“When using solarium, the organism is exposed to the action of artificial UV sources. This radiation is classified by the International Cancer Research Agency based on current scientific knowledge As a proven carcinogen for people, a factor that poses a health risk,“The resort justified its intention.
According to the Ministry of Health, the tanning of the skin in the solarium is not suitable for some sensitive groups of populations, including people under 18 years of age. “The risk is greater in the population in this age category, as the skin is much thinner and more sensitive at this age, and the skin is unable to produce enough pigment to capture the rays of UV radiation,” The ministry said.
The resort would also like to reduce the administrative burden of enterprises by draft amendment to the Act, for example by canceling the obligation to submit proposals For the approval of recovery events or asbestos removal, which should only be replaced by reporting.
New epidemiological concepts, municipal obligations should be introduced, the obligation of municipalities to exercise spring and autumn rodentation or compulsory active supervision of nosocomial infections and extending the list of reported communicable diseases.
The rules for putting nutritional supplements, organizing mass events or cosmetics should also be specified. “The exemption is deleted to put on the cosmetic product on the market that has been tested on animals or which contains such a component,” said the resort. Requirements for common diet facilities are also tightened – including the obligation to maintain the minimum water temperature and the ban on the presence of animals. The effectiveness of the majority of changes has been proposed since December 2025, some from January 2030.
