The president of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, said in a statement on Monday that she and other European Union leaders (EU), as well as Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, received a briefing from US President Donald Trump after their connection with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
“I want to thank President Trump for his tireless efforts to bring a ceasefire to Ukraine. It’s important that the US remains engaged. We will continue to support Volodymyr Zelensky to achieve lasting peace in Ukraine,” Von Der Leyen wrote.
The other leaders included France President Emmanuel Macron, Italy Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, Finland President Alex Stubb, and Germany Chancellor Friedrich Merz, said von der Leyen.
