A person has died in the municipality of Tenerife of La Laguna after a strong explosion and a fire in a home, as reported by the Local Police of their social networks. The fire occurred around 23:00 on Monday in a property on Verdugo and Massieu Street, in the neighborhood of Cuesta de la Laguna (Santa Cruz de Tenerife). Nine people from adjacent real estate were evicted preventively. The town hall assumed the accommodation of a neighbor and the remaining eight obtained their own resources.

The causes of the explosion and the subsequent fire are unknown and are investigated. The Local Police tried to access the house with the help of Tenerife firefighters and agents of the National Police Corps, but failed to enter due to the amount of smoke.
Urban Planning Staff has inspected the area before the temporary eviction of six adjoining buildings, and the street has been cordoned off because there are a lot of debris on public roads. In the area there are agents of the local and national police, as well as firefighters.
