Adept invades field and assaults assistant referee in a game of the district of Viseu

The end of the game between the Resende Sports Group and the olive sports group of Oliveira de Frades, telling the Viseu Football Association Member of the Merit Cup, was marked by a serious incident. After marking the penalties – which dictated the victory of the visiting team – a fan broke into the pitch and assaulted the assistant referee.

The moment was filmed by supporters in the benches and the images quickly spread on social networks. The aggressor, who performed roles of balls during the match, entered the field with his hands behind his back and went to the auxiliary referee. After a short exchange of words, he tried to crawl at him, forcing the referee to flee to avoid further aggression.

The Republican National Guard was called to the stadium as the event’s security was being assured by a private company.

Viseu’s soccer referees core reacted in a statement, repudiating that: “Such behavior, besides configuring an unacceptable affront to the authority’s authority and physical integrity, represents an attack on the basic principles that support sports: mutual respect, civility, order and justice”, can be read in the note published on social networks.
