Discover the new Ryanair route where the flights go (almost) always empty

Ryanair, Europe’s leading low -cost airline, announced this week it expected to implement a new measure this summer. The decision comes after the company registered a 16% break in the 2024-2025 tax year profits, attributed to a reduction in average ticket prices, despite a record number of carried passengers.

Profit goes down to 1.6 billion euros

During the last fiscal year, the airline reported profits of 1.6 billion euros. According to the data shared by, this result was affected by a 7% decrease in average rate prices, even with the transport of 200 million passengers, a maximum historical to the Irish carrier.

The company’s executive president, Michael O’leary, said the results were “very good”, considering the challenges faced. Among the obstacles referred to is a dispute with online travel agents (OTAs), which caused temporary interruptions in the reserves. This situation forced Ryanair to lower prices to maintain the occupancy rate of flights.

Eight euros of profit per passenger

Despite the difficulties, the company maintained the profitability by passenger. O’Leary indicated that, even with the rates in tariffs, the company managed to generate about eight euros of profit per passenger transported during the fiscal year in question.

The company’s forecast for summer of 2025 points to an average price increase between 5% and 6%. The trend has already occurred during this year’s Easter period, during which a 15% rise in tariffs, signaling the company’s higher capacity to impose higher prices in the future.

Company awaits the arrival of new planes

Ryanair is waiting for the delivery of 29 new Boeing 737 Max 8 aircraft, which are expected to reinforce their fleet for next summer. However, delays in Boeing production, despite recent improvements, may extend to the fall of 2025, endangering part of the planned operation.

Given the possibility of new commercial tariffs between the United States and the European Union, the airline is considering the registration of some of the new aircraft in the United Kingdom. This strategy could avoid potential additional costs, depending on the evolution of commercial negotiations between the blocks.

“Anything that reduces friction between the United Kingdom and Europe, we will be in favor”

At the political level, Michael O’Leary expressed support for the initiatives of British labor leader Keir Stmermer to reinforce the relations between the United Kingdom and the European Union. “Anything that reduces friction between the UK and Europe, we will be in favor, particularly some of the really stupid things,” said the executive.

According to the company, the search for tickets for the summer of 2025 has been high, with the tariffs to record a tendency to climb. This demand is being accompanied by an increase in route supply, in a network expansion strategy.

More routes for this summer

For the high time that is about to begin, Ryanair has announced the addition of over 160 new routes. In total, the company will have 2,600 calls available, which represents one of the biggest offers in its history for the summer period.

The company advises passengers to make their reservations in advance to ensure the best rates available, as places at reduced prices may run out rapidly due to the high demand.

Ryanair recipe growth projection

Michael O’Leary reinforced his confidence in a summer of strong activity in the commercial aviation sector. The executive anticipated that the company will have “a strong summer travel season in 2025 across the network”, reiterating profit growth projections in the current financial year.

This Ryanair financial year is extended until March 31, 2026 and the carrier expects pricing recovery, coupled with network expansion and increased demand, translates into an improvement in results compared to the previous period.
