In the Polish People's Republic she was a sweet rarity. I do this delicacy at home and without sugar

The PRL is the times when the store shelves were empty, and access to sweets was not as simple as today. So when the halva appeared – produced mainly in the Middle East or Balkans – in Polish homes it was considered luxurious good. Its durability and intense, original taste were what additionally caused its popularity. Of course, not everyone could afford such a rarity, which all the more that it was considered a premium product.

Today, the halva is a bit forgotten, but it is definitely worth reaching for it. Not only because it is sweet and tasty – it turns out that it has a lot of nutritional values, which are difficult to pass by indifferently.

Let’s start with the fact that halva is a high -calorie product. 100 g of this delicacy can have up to 500 kcal. As it turns out, this number should not be afraid, because it results primarily from the high nutritional value of halva – primarily from valuable fatty acids present in sesame seeds.

Omega-9 and Omega-3, which is present in sesame, perfectly support the work of the cardiovascular system. Oleic and linoleic acid minimize the risk of circulatory system diseases, and also help maintain normal cholesterol.

The halva also has a large number of antioxidantsthanks to which it reduces free radicals, and thus delays the aging process of cells. In turn, vitamins A and E present in this treat support skin and sight health. Chalva is great for people who do not eat meat or struggle with anemia – thanks to the presence of iron. INAmong its most valuable ingredients, we can also mention, among others protein, magnesium, sodium or phosphorus. In turn, the fiber present in the composition can be an ally with slimming – just a small piece is enough to ensure a feeling of satiety for a long time and reduce snacking.

How to make a halva at home? A simple recipe for this delicacy without the addition of sugar is given by Mrs. Dorota running the @Menudorotki channel on YouTube.

Ingredients:

  • 150 g of white shelled sesame,
  • 50-75 g of honey.

Additions:

  • coconut flakes,
  • ground nuts,
  • cocoa beans or cocoa,
  • Almonds,
  • raisins,
  • pistachios,
  • cranberries.

Sesame seeds in a dry pan Until they have a golden color and begin to smell intensively. This is the moment to remove the sesame from the pan.

When he cools down, pour it into a blender’s dish and start grinding – it will last about 5-7 minutes, until the oily substance releases from the sesame and will stick.

When the sesame seeds are already sticking, it is the right time to add honey and blend both ingredients together – Honey is worth dosing and checking the degree of sweetness, because everyone is suited to something different in this respect.

This is the right time to combine the halva with your favorite additions – they can be cocoa beans, coconut flakes, almonds, raisins, pistachios or cranberries.

Put the halva into the dish, put in the fridge for about half an hour. After this time, she is ready to cut and eat.
