It is true that they are very young, and two of them – the Mene and Bastos – presented themselves today in Las Ventas, but none of the three bullfighters has responded to the expectations that were supposed to be supposed for their short and successful races.
They adorn them bullfights, they are elegant, they handle the cape with good taste, but disappoint with the crutch in their hands, always detached, to the python thread, without depth or grace, and are heavy, as good children of their time.
The first conclusion is that Count of Mayalde offered their best qualities for triumph, and their killers did not know how to take advantage of them. There were three greedy and noble specimens in the final third that rammed with duration and rhythm, but the resulting bullfighting lacked background and feeling, overflowing with coldness and doubts about the future.
Two of those steers touched El Mene who, as his teammates handles the cape with ease and enjundia, and demonstrated in a quite for aprons in the first of the afternoon, four excellent Verónica and an average in the receipt to the second, and an extraordinary half -seeon in a quite to that first steer of his life in Madrid. And kill very well, with a prominent decision; From a somewhat opposite lunge, throwing over the animal’s morrillo, ended that first, and a great lunge prescribed the fifth.
But with the crutch … heavy, like all its generation, very little tight, passes and more real bullfighting passes, all very unequal, embroiled, boring. This was seen in his two steers, but especially before the fifth, tireless and inexhaustible enchanted in the final third, with good rhythm and quality in his onslaught, with which he did not find a way to draw a triumph task. In the end of his work, in the eighth batch, with the notice about to sound, he was zancadilleado by the steer, who chased him with greed and gave him a very serious somedote of which, fortunately, he left without a cornada. He turned the ring protested by the lunge and a last batch more linked than all the above.
Tomás Bastos is another bullfighter with good taste with the cape in his hands, and wore for chicuelinas and tafalleras, he is elegant and walks with self -confidence in the face of his opponents, but another who takes the crutch and changes the stage. A triumph steer was the third, meek, repeater and noble, already the exception of some long chest pass, he was not able to mobilize the attention of the lying, which usually happens when what happens in the ring is a cartoon of authentic bullfighting. Det off well, without crossing, as long as the python always … and the sixth, who galloped in flags, was very quick in the final third, and the work of Bastos was blurred.
And bad luck had the first of the list, Fabio Jiménez, a good capotero also to Veronica, and with good they are, the low hands and sense of the temper received the one who opened a place. He fulfilled the steer in rods and came cheerful in banderillas, but the good tone later turned to Sosía, with his face halfway, and the good concept of the bullfighter did not come to light as he deserved. He was right, certainly, and Jiménez’s cold, for the condition of his opponent and because he did not take the necessary step. When he handled the crutch with the left -handed, he suffered a somersault, the steer looked for him in the sand and happily found no meat in his defeats. The fourth steer was injured with a flag and died standing. Astifino, with a trap of bull, of serious stamp, meanned on the horse, and life escaped Burbotones shortly after starting the last third. He collapsed on a couple of occasions and had to be signed on the ring.
Hopefully the three bullfighters have a better future than present. Hopefully today has been more than scenic fear. Hopefully…
