The US chain McDonald’s has just inaugurated the one that is officially its largest restaurant in all of Europe. With an area of more than 1,000 square meters, the new space is at the Mallorca Palma Airport in Spain.
Only passengers with a destination outside the Schengen space can access
Despite its impressive dimension, this restaurant is not accessible to most Spanish citizens. Only passengers with flights out of the Schengen space, such as those traveling to the United Kingdom, can enter the new space.
Opening runs in the scope of Aen’s works at the airport
According to the British newspaper Daily Express, the new unit is located at the 930 airport plant. The opening is part of a set of works promoted by Aen, a management entity of the Spanish airports, scheduled for 2026.
Dimension of the restaurant is equivalent to three tennis fields
With over 1,000 square meters, the now inaugurated restaurant has an area comparable to three tennis fields. This dimension reinforces the strategic importance of location, in one of Spain’s busiest airports, according to the Spanish HuffPost portal.
State -of -the -art technology is among the highlights of the new space
The restaurant has eight digital kiosks and an automated production system that promises to accelerate service. In addition, table service will be offered, a news in brand spaces at airports.
One of the focuses of this new unit will be the McCafé zone, especially designed to attract the approximately 750,000 British tourists who, all summers, land in Palma de Mallorca.
Creation of jobs reinforces bet on whaares
With this inauguration, the US chain has created 200 new jobs. These join the more than 1,000 posts already existing at the brand’s more than 20 restaurants in the Balear Islands.

Angel Castillo, responsible for McDonald’s restaurants in Spain, said this opening represents “a new milestone and another example of our commitment to the Balear Islands.”

Airport improvements aim to facilitate passenger experience
Palma airport ongoing works include, among other improvements, changes in security control posts. These changes intend to accelerate the boarding process.
In all, 44 new safety lines will be installed. These will allow passengers to keep liquids and electronic devices inside the bags during control, reducing waiting times.
