Deputies of the Parliamentary Front of Commerce and Services and the National Union of Trade and Services Entities have signed a manifesto in which they criticize AE in which they argue that it is replaced by the text that includes contract per hour worked.

The manifesto says it is “urgent to rethink the basis of labor relations in the country” and states that society calls for more flexible rules, “that respect the diversity of new forms of work and broaden the possibilities of income generation and productive inclusion.”

The critical text, which establishes work duration of up to eight hours a day and 36 hours per week, with – the Constitution foresees work duration of up to eight hours per day and 44 hours per week.

For the parliamentary front and trade and service entities, the proposal is “a setback when trying to impose rigidity incompatible with the new times.” It also declares support to the PEC of Deputy Mauricio Marcon (Somos-RS), nicknamed PEC of free hiring.

The text maintains the constitutional forecast of up to eight hours of work and 44 hours per week, but includes an excerpt on free contractual agreement between employee and employer, including hours worked, prevailing the provisions of an individual employment contract on negotiating instruments.

According to the Manifesto, the PEC “is a historical opportunity to modernize labor legislation by allowing workers and employers to have more freedom to agree their relationships, safely and respectfully.”

“We support a new model of work that unites freedom with responsibility, autonomy with protection, and growth with dignity-because we believe that rebuilding Brazil also involves modernizing its laws and opening ways for the future of work,” says the manifesto, signed by the presidents of the House Front, Deputy Domingos Sávio (PL-MG) and the Senate, Efraim Filho (Union-PB), and Leonardo Severini.
