Almost one hundred foreign mercenaries, 11 of them Americans, have been convicted of Russian justice for fighting the Armed Forces of Ukraine, said the head of the Russian Instruction Committee (CIR), Alexandr Bastrikin. “As a result of the judgments, 97 mercenaries from 26 countries have been convicted,” said Bastrikin, cited by the Interfax agency, in a meeting with young people in the framework of the International Legal Forum of St. Petersburg. The head of the CIR said that 42 of the convicted mercenaries are Georgian citizens; 13, Americans and 10, letos. He added that the judicial investigation agency, which depends directly on the president of Russia, Vladimir Putin, has information about 902 mercenaries from more than 70 countries, 695 of which have been declared in search and capture. “The testimony of the detained mercenaries shows that they contacted the Ukrainian embassies in their countries, where they were interviewed, they were provided instructions and contacts in Ukraine,” Bastrikin said.
