A magnitude 2.3 earthquake on the Richter scale was felt at 3:12 on Wednesday in the municipality of Arroiolos, Évora, according to the Portuguese Institute of Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA).
The shake, whose epicenter was located about six kilometers west-noise of Arraiolos, was felt with a maximum intensity of III, on the Mercalli scale and recorded at the seismic network stations of mainland Portugal.
The IPMA indicates that the earthquake did not cause personal or material damage until the time of issuing its statement at 4:00 am.
A 2.3 richter scale shake is considered to have a very small magnitude.
As for intensity, level III is considered weak.
“Sense indoors. The pending objects shake. Vibration is similar to that caused by the passage of heavy vehicles. It is possible to estimate the duration but cannot be recognized with an earthquake,” describes the IPMA on his portal.
A 3.1 magnitude earthquake on the Richter scale was also felt in the Évora region on April 16.
