He visited on Tuesday for the first time since Russian forces expelled the soldiers from the city.

The Russian president met with representatives of volunteer organizations and visited a nuclear station in the area, according to a Kremlin announcement on Wednesday, cited by Reuters.

Putin had stated at the end of last month that his forces fired Ukrainian troops from his district, which ended the biggest invasion of Russian territory since World War II.

Ukraine launched the attack in August last year, using, among other things, drones to break the Russian border, occupying about 1,400 square kilometers in the Kursk periphery.

The attacks continue

At the same time, more than 159 Ukrainian drones were shot down over Russian territory, according to the Russian Defense Ministry on Wednesday.

The majority of drones were dismissed in Russia’s western regions, while at least six were found and dismissed in the Moscow’s crowd, the ministry added.

The visit to Kursk took place while a Russian missile bombardment killed six Ukrainian soldiers and injured ten others during training in the Sumi District, Ukraine, according to the administration of the country’s national guard.

The unit commander has been made available and launched internal investigation.

Visit after the Trump phone call

The attack occurred after which he urged them to restart the peace talks.

However, Trump underestimated his influence on Putin, German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius said on Wednesday after the talks between the two leaders, who did not lead any progress for peace in Ukraine.

Europe has in the meantime announced new sanctions against Russia for the war in Ukraine. Pistorius noted that it remains to be seen whether the US would participate in the measures.
