The florist shared his experience of making petunias lush blooms. They will delight all summer!

Although petunias are many favorite flowers, they need special care for them to bloom abundantly and lush. Therefore, be sure to plant adult petunias in the right pot for a long and happily blooming flower throughout the season!

Petunias need special soil – fluffy and fertile. The ideal ratio is 2/3 of the forest soil and 1/3 of the humus (any species).

Add the polystyrene foam layer to the bottom of the pot. Next up is 5 cm (soil + humus) layer. Then again a thin layer of polystyrene foam, and so layer to the top of the pot.

Fill the entire pot with such layers. This method will prevent the soil from falling. The roots will remain healthy, even if the soil dries or is too moist.

Apply another sand layer before the top layer of soil. This will prevent the soil from compacting.

Sprinkle some more earth on the sand and sprinkle some more soil. For one season, this “layered cake” petunia will be enough.

It is not at all necessary to loosen the ground! This planting will get a lot of nutrients, blooms abundantly and will require very little fertilizer.

Regular removal of blooming rings is very important for petunia to bloom and look decorative as long as possible. This encourages you to allow new buds instead of wasting energy for seed formation. It is also recommended to check the moisture of the root area at least once a week – although petunias like moist soil, they are sensitive to rooting. If the soil looks dry at the top but still deeper – wait before watering. On hot summer days, flowers are best watered in the morning or evening to prevent rapid evaporation and root overheating.
