Rubio said Russia is preparing proposals for the conditions of ceasefire for Ukraine. Details can reveal whether Moscow is interested in real completion of military operations.

The US Secretary of State Marco Rubio expects Russia to submit a wide sketch of the conditions of a ceasefire that will allow Washington to evaluate whether Moscow really wants to close peace. TASR informs according to the AFP report published at night on Wednesday.

“In a very close horizon, perhaps a few days, perhaps this week, the Russian side will submit the conditions that they would like,” Rubio said at hearing before members of the US Senate Foreign Committee.

American diplomacy chief said that the time estimate was based on Monday’s calling call US President Donald Trump and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin and also from his own interview, who over the weekend with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.

Russia is reportedly offered “only a wide range of conditions that will allow us to move to the ceasefire, which will then allow us to enter into detailed negotiations to terminate the conflict,” Rubio said.

“We hope this will happen. We believe that the conditions developed by the Russians will tell us a lot about their real intentions. On the one hand, it can be realistic conditions that can be worked with. They will also tell us if they submit the conditions we know they are unrealistic.”

Trump said on Monday after his call with Putin that Russia is “immediately” ready to start peace negotiations. Putin was more restrained and said that Moscow would propose a “memorandum of a possible future peace agreement defining a number of attitudes”.
