Exclusive SIC interview
In an interview with SIC, André Ventura guarantees that he is “ready to rule” the country if the time comes, and reveals that he is already preparing a shadow government, composed mainly by names outside the party.
Arrives and PS were tied in the terms of Sunday’s legislative elections, with 58 each, but the vows of the circles of emigration – known on May 28 – can even dictate a second place for André Ventura’s party.
To confirm this scenario, will be a “Deep change of the political paradigm” and a “historical victory” for the party. But Ventura goes further and says that, leading the opposition, will have a shadow government “ready to rule”.
“Anyone who is the opposition leader must be prepared at all times to be prime minister and have to have a team in whom the Portuguese can trust.”
This team is already setting up and whose most names, he says, comes from outside the partywithout revealing further details.
“We are against the ‘Jobs for the Boys’, against the pots. (…) in health, immigration, social security and other fundamental areas we cannot think about who has a party card, but who has quality,” he justifies.
Constitutional revision on the way?
Now that the right has a two -thirds majority in Parliament, thus allowing a constitutional revision – – the arrival is also in favor of this path.
“It’s historical and we just don’t go with structuring reforms if we don’t want to.”

“We want stability, but …”
The Leader of the arrival also guarantees that does not intend to create instability In the country and expects the new legislature to last four years. However, it does not exclude advancing with the Prime Minister’s parliamentary committee.
