The arrival and socialist party (PS) have been tied in terms of mandates in Sunday’s legislative elections, with 58 each, but the vows of the circles of emigration – known on May 28 – can put André Ventura’s party in second place.
Álvaro Beleza is available to help the Socialist Party (PS) as needed-until “Posters Necklace” -, but departs from a possible candidacy for the position of Secretary-General of the Partycurrently vacant after the departure of Pedro Nuno Santos.
“Even today I said to a friend of mine that I realized that I am still young to be a Pope, but perhaps already a little old to be secretary general of the Socialist Party (PS),” he says.
The guest of this week of “It cares to repeat?” argues that the Socialist Party (PS) must be part of the solution and be available for prevent the Democratic Covenant (AD) from having to negotiate more to the rightnamely with the arrival.
“The PS must be available to reach agreements with the PSD on fundamental issues of the regime. They do not have to be all, but it must be part of the solution. If so, the country will win and I believe the Portuguese will reward both PS and AD.”
Recalls that Pedro Nuno Santos is still very young and can return to politics, stressing that is not the main responsible by the result of the party in Sunday elections.
“Everyone makes mistakes, he also made them, but they all made us all. The PS has been eight years in government and also made mistakes. Part of the wear and tear of what is happening also has to do with mistakes made in the past.”
