After supporting the candidacy of the president of the Paulista Football Federation (), Reinaldo Carneiro Bastos, 20 clubs announced absence in the election of the Brazilian Football Confederation (). Despite the non -attendance, it is possible that they vote, as the entity authorized the remote vote. Still, abstention must be the choice of associations. He is a single candidate, with the support of 25 federations, which made it impossible to register an opposing plate. The note released brings the motto of the campaign that marks the positioning of the clubs during the electoral process: “No club has no football”. Most teams belong to League Forte União (LFU), the closest economic bloc to the president of the FPF. However, there are also teams of the pound.

“The future of Brazilian football needs to be based on democracy, transparency and representativeness. We will not attend the vote for disagreeing with the current process,” he begins, which he concludes: “We will be ready to talk to the new management, starting next week, so that together we can debate how to change the electoral process and other demands of clubs for ever better football.” América-MG, Athletico-PR, Atletico-GO, Ribeirão Preto Botafogo, Chapecoense, Corinthians, Coritiba, Cruzeiro, Cuiabá, Flamengo, Fluminense, Fortaleza, Goiás, International, Youth, Mirassol, Novorizontino, Santos, Sao Paulo and Sport are the clubs that will be absent from the election of CBF. Among the 30 who supported Carneiro Bastos, but did not sign the statement of absence, are Atletico-MG, Avaí, Bahia, CRB, Red Bull Bragantino, Ceará, Railway, Worker-PR, Vila Nova and Vitória

Earlier this week, most Brazilian series A and B clubs joined to make demands on the new CBF management. In a text published through the social networks of LFU, changes were required in the electoral process of the maximum football entity and commitment to the creation of a league.

See the requirements made by the clubs to the CBF:

Alteration of the electoral process, especially with regard to the weight of the votes
Mandatory participation of clubs in all CBF general assemblies
Commitment to create the league and recognition that the commercial properties of series A and B belong to clubs
Change in governance rules, effectively giving executive power to the National Club Commission
Professionalization of arbitration, ensuring exclusive dedication of the referees of series A and B, and investment in permanent training
The 2026-2030 cycle calendar needs to be approved by Libra and LFU in conjunction with CBF
Promotion and financial support specially directed to series B, C and D as well as women’s football
Establishment of Financial Fair Play Rules

Contrary to what recent movements pointed out, the election of the CBF should not undergo new legal interventions. After file a federal Supreme Court appeal to try to postpone the vote, Ednaldo Rodrigues said he will not try to return to the chair of president. He filed the withdrawal in the request to, according to him, “pacify” Brazilian football.

The General Electoral Assembly is scheduled for Sunday, with first call at 10:30 am, at CBF headquarters, in Rio de Janeiro. The Electoral Commission allowed the participation remotely, as it will be a round of round of Brasileirão.

Why was Ednaldo Rodrigues away from CBF?

The Rio de Janeiro Court of Justice received a determination of the Supreme Court to investigate the possibility of the signature of Antonio Carlos Nunes de Lima, Colonel Nunes, was falsified, in the agreement that had ended the dispute in the Supreme and maintained Ednaldo Rodrigues in charge of the CBF. The case surfaced last week after an expertise was attached to the process. Another point that questions the authenticity of the signature is the fact that Nunes, 86, informed the court suffering from a tumor in the brain and severe heart disease.

Along with the expert, a report presented by Dr. Jorge Pagura, head of the CBF Medical Department, in which the professional indicates that Nunes suffers from cognitive deficit, especially after undergoing surgical intervention considered aggressive in 2023. The appeal filed by Ednaldo Rodrigues was made through the CBF’s legal board. At the same time, the entity summoned the election, the target of a new request, to stop, in the Supreme Court, made by Ednaldo.

The only plate registered is headed by Samir Xaud, president -elect of the Roraimense Football Federation (FRF). The candidate gathered support from 25 state federations, making it impossible for Reinaldo Carneiro Bastos, from the Paulista Federation (FPF), to enroll his candidacy, which needs at least eight state entities.
