Giving nutrition tips on pamal networks without having qualifications can be a crime?

Nutritionists’ order received, last year, 40 complaints related to the illegal exercise of the profession. Most refers to people without qualifications who give advice or consultations about nutrition through social networks. The cashier warns of the risks it may have in the population.

On social networks is not difficult to find tips and advice on what to eat, but when can this be a crime?

Advertising to nutrition consultations, food counseling or lectures on the subject were identified in the 40 complaints that came to the order in the last year. They happen mainly in the digital sphere.

These are practices that can constitute usurpation of functions if not made by nutritionists registered in the Order.

“The Order of Nutritionists is concerned about the health of the population, which is receiving these services thinking that it is indicated for their health,” says Liliana Sousa, a president of the Nutritionists Order.

Order appeals to the complaint

The Bastarian asks professionals to collect evidence when they intend to make a complaint. Many end up archived.

To verify that a professional has the necessary qualifications, simply consult the, where all nutritionists are recorded in the country.

At this time, there are 34 complaints under analysis, which may then be reported to the prosecutor.
