Here's what to do with daffodils after they bloom. They will bloom more abundantly next spring!

As spring comes, daffodils bloom, which delight our eyes for a long time. They grow from small bulbs like spring tulips. However, as May, narcissists start to disappear. What to do with narcissists after flowering? Try these ways.

Narcissists are the most popular spring flowers planted in flower beds and lawns. They come in a variety of colors: white, orange and, of course, yellow. Proper growing and maintaining daffodils will allow you to enjoy them for many years. In this article, learn how to do it properly.

What to do with narcissists after flowering?

First of all, it is worth knowing that these flowers look best in groups and mixed or one type of composition. Therefore, after flowering time, they must be removed from the beds by excavating the bulbs. However, wait for the green leaves to completely disappear and do not trim them in any way! The method of dug of daffodils improves the abundance of flowering and enhances the health of the plant. If you leave daffodils on Earth, they will bloom poorly in a few years.

When to dug daffodils?

These flowers are best dug in the summer when the weather is favorable and we are sure that the daffodil leaves have completely collapsed. If they were planted in porous baskets, the work is simple. However, if they were planted without baskets, straight to the ground, digging their bulbs will be a daunting task. Therefore, when planting bulbous flowers, always remember to use porous baskets that not only facilitate the search for bulbs, but also protect them, for example, from roe deer. When dugs are dug, they should be cleaned from the ground, dried and placed in boxes filled with sand. Finally, just place boxes with daffodil bulbs in a spacious, dark and cool room. Narcissus bulb digging is also a great opportunity to reproduce these flowers when you can calmly distinguish the side bulbs from the mother.

How do I care for daffodils until next season?

It is very important to take care of their bulbs to the next planting season to ensure that narcissists continue to bloom every spring. Periodically inspect the protected onions – if you notice soft, rotten or dried, remove them immediately to avoid damaging the rest. Also, it is worth applying the bulbs slightly once every couple of weeks to dry evenly. If moisture accumulates in the storage room, it is important to ventilate it well. Properly stored bulbs will be healthy, strong and ready to successfully germinate next spring.

When to plant daffodils?

These flowers should be planted in early fall, ie around September. Wire and fertile soil is best for planting onions. It is worth remembering that the planting depth should be 10-20 cm.
