INSS queue almost doubles in 1 year and generates billions cost

Number of requirements went from 1.4 million in April 2024 to 2.678 million in the same month by 2025

The waiting line for benefits of the INSS (National Institute of Social Security) reached 2.678 million requirements in April. In the same month of 2024, the number was 1.4 million. The increase was 91.3% in 1 year.

Despite the 12 -month rise, there was a slight retreat compared to March, when the total requests reached 2.707 million – the government record of (PT).

This is the amount of people in the INSS line in 2025:

  • January – 2.346.109;
  • February – 2.528.621;
  • March – 2.707.296;
  • April – 2.678.584.

Here’s the April stock data:

  • disability benefit – 1.2 million;
  • Assists and Ble (Special Legislation Benefit) – 639 thousand;
  • retirement – 454 mil;
  • maternity – 158 mil;
  • pensions and reclusions – 144 mil.

According to the April Fiscal Follow -up report of IFI (Independent Fiscal Institution), the doctors strike, which began in August 2024, may be one of the determining factors for increasing the INSS analysis line. Here’s (PDF – 1.8 MB)

A survey of XP Investimentos made this week estimates that there would be an impact of R $ 6 billion only with the payment of delayed amounts to 1.3 million of requests that are in line.

The cost of regular benefits in 12 months would be around $ 27 billion for the same number of beneficiaries. According to the investment advisory, as only one portion of the requests is approved (others fall in restriction or denied), the cost in 12 months would be $ 14 billion.
