Washington Metropolitan Police confirmed on Thursday morning the arrest of a suspect after two employees of the Israeli embassy in Washington, DC in the vicinity of the capital’s Jewish museum, about two kilometers from the White House.
According to Washington Metropolitan Police Chief Pamela Smith, the suspect, 30 -year -old Elias Rodriguez and a native of Chicago, fired a group of four, mortally reaching two victims. Rodriguez was seen circulating in the immediate vicinity of the museum before the shooting and, after the attack, entered the building, where he was arrested for the safety of the event. During the detention, the suspect sang pro-Palestinian slogans, such as “Free Palestine, Free Palestine”, and indicated the place where he had discarded the weapon, which was later recovered by the authorities. No criminal record of Rodriguez is not known.
The victims, identified as Yaron Lischinsky and Sarah Lynn Milgrim, were a couple who, according to the US Ambassador, Yechiel Leiter, had just been groom. The attack occurred when both left the event organized by the American Jewish Committee, intended for Jewish professionals aged between 22 and 45 years.

The episode spoiled several reactions around the world. US President Donald Trump has classified murders as “horrible” and “obviously based on anti-Semitism,” while Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu expressed solidarity to the victims’ families and denounced the “heinous anti-Semitic killer.” Netanyahu that this event is the result of the “wild incitement” against Israel.
In Europe, Germany Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul, who “can justify anti -Semitic violence.”
In response to the successful, US authorities, including the FBI, are investigating the case as an act of directed violence, with FBI’s deputy director, Don Bongino, saying that his team is fully committed to providing answers without compromising other clues.
The attack occurs in a context of growing international tension related to the conflict in Gaza, which has polarized opinions and generated pro-Palestinian manifestations in various parts of the world.
