The victims of Wednesday’s suicide bomb attack on the school bus in the southwest of Pakistan were three girls aged 10 to 16 and two soldiers. 53 people, including 39 children, suffered injuries, reporters of the Balúčistan province reported on Thursday, TASR writes, according to AP report.
The target of a suicide bomber was a bus that headed for a school controlled by an army in Balúčistan. At the time of the bomb explosion, there were approximately 40 pupils on the bus. Hundreds of people attended the funeral of the victims on Thursday.
So far, no group has registered responsibility for this attack. According to AP, this is one of the bloodiest attacks aimed at schoolchildren in recent years. Most of the previous attacks have applied forbidden Balúpistani Liberation Army (Bla), which aims to split the province from the rest of Pakistan.
But the United States, which was identified in 2019 as a terrorist organization or Pakistani Taliban, usually do not apply to attacks whose victims are among civilians or children, writes AP.
Both the Pakistani army and the government accused neighboring India of attacking without providing evidence. India did not comment on these accusations. These neighboring states attacked themselves this month for four days, but subsequently agreed on a ceasefire.
