MUBI announced the acquisition of distribution of “the secret agent” in Latin America (except Brazil), India and the United Kingdom. The agreement was closed at the Cannes Film Festival, where the Brazilian film was screened and competes for the Golden Palm.
The title of Kleber Mendonça Filho will also be, responsible for films like “Parasite” e “Anora”.
The political thriller was at the French Film Festival and received one at Rotten Tomatoes, an online criticism aggregator.
The plot is set in the 1970s, during the military dictatorship in Brazil, and accompanies Marcelo, a technology expert, who escapes a mysterious past and decides to return to Recife in search of a little peace, but realizes that the city is far from being o Refuge that seeks. The production is starring Wagner Moura (“Elite Troop”), which returns to Brazilian cinema after years dedicated to the international career. Names like MARIA FERNANDA CANDID (“Terra Nostra”), Gabriel Leone (“Dom”), Isabel Zuaa (“O not to the diabo”), Alice Carvalho (“New cangaço”) make up the cast.
“The Secret Agent” has no premiere forecast.
