The Amnesty Declaration is an instrument of repair and preservation of memory. With him, the State calls for forgiveness to the victims of the crimes committed during the military regime (1964-1985).
There will also be an economic reparation of an indemnity character to the former president. The rapporteur of the case, counselor Rodrigo Lentz, defined that this will take place in a single installment, considering the period from 1969 to 1988, reaching the legal ceiling of R $ 100 thousand.
In her vote, Lentz said the former president was “hit by serious acts of exception for exclusively political motivation.” He also read Dilma’s testimony excerpts about the torture sessions she was submitted to.

Counselor Rita Sipahi, who was arrested with Dilma, said she participated in the session was “a great honor and pride” and that “Brazilian resistance to the civil-military dictatorship implemented in 1964 was conquered by you, women and men of the past and present.”

Dilma’s trajectory in the dictatorship
In the 1970s, Dilma joined organizations of opposition to the dictatorship, including Var-Palmares, one of the main groups of armed struggle. It was arrested and tortured.
