He traveled around the world to photograph communities and landscapes. His “love for humanity” has earned him dozens of international awards. Brazilian photographer and environmentalist died this Friday at the age of 81.
Brazilian photographer Sebastião Salgado, considered one of the most important exponents of photography in the world, died today, at the age of 81, said the Terra Institute, a non-governmental organization founded by the artist.
“Sebastião was much more than one of the greatest photographers of our time. Alongside his life companion, Lélia Deluiz Wanick Salgado, sowed hope where there was devastation and made the idea that environmental restoration is also a deep gesture of Love for humanity. His lens revealed the world and its contradictions; His life, the power of transforming action, ”reads in a statement from the Terra Institute.

In Africa, he was several times sent by the World Bank and doctors without borders to do journalistic work-his work stands out exactly for the documentary.
