Russia and Ukraine exchanged the lists of a thousand prisoners of each country to be exchanged in the framework of the greatest exchange of prisoners since the beginning of the war, official sources announced on Thursday. Kremlin spokesman Dmitri Peskov confirmed on Thursday to the Russian media that Moscow had given his list to kyiv and waited for his response. Later, Peskov reported that Russia had also received the list of Ukrainian prisoners. “Indeed, we just received it,” said the Russian presidency spokesman to the Interfax agency. The Ukrainian president, Volodimir Zelenski, confirmed Wednesday that his administration had already prepared the list of names of Ukrainian Captive War prisoners in Russia who must enter the exchange. “We are clarifying the details of all the people included in the lists sent to the Russian part,” Zelenski wrote on his social networks by informing the meeting he had with the Minister of Defense, Rustem Umérov, and with other Ukrainian leaders to make the exchange effective. The Ukrainian President explained that, in addition to Umrov, which supervises the preparations for exchange, intelligence services, the Ministry of Interior and the Ukrainian presidential office itself participate in the efforts to materialize the exchange, which, in the words of Zelenski, was “perhaps the only tangible result” of the Istanbul meeting with the Russians on May 16.
