Harvard accuses Trump of “flagrant violation” of the Constitution
Harvard’s US University sued Trump administration due to President Donald Trump’s decision to revoke the authorization of the Ivy League institution to enroll international students, Reuters said.
In the lawsuit presented at the Boston Federal Court, Harvard classified revocation as a “flagrant violation” of the first amendment of the US Constitution and other federal laws.
“With a hard blow, the government tried to erase a quarter of Harvard’s student body, international students who contribute significantly to the university and its mission,” he began by referring to the university.
“This is the government’s latest act in clear retaliation because Harvard exercises his rights guaranteed by the first amendment, rejecting the government’s demands to control the governance, curriculum and ‘ideology’ of his faculty and students,” the institution added.
The news comes after, on Thursday, US internal security secretary Kristi Noem has ordered the certification of the Harvard Student Student Program and Visitors, with effect from the 2025-2026 school year.
