Over time, the leaves of internal plants can lose shine. But simple gestures are enough and a little care to make them come back to shine.

Treating a plant does not just mean giving it to drink or finding her place with the right light. Sometimes it is enough to polish the leaves to completely transform the atmosphere of a corner of the house. That almost distracted gesture, made with a damp cloth, can say much more than a thousand words: attention, care, presence. And then, let’s face it, a lucid leaf always attracts the gaze. Often you pass next to the plants without even paying attention to it, as if they were part of the furniture. But a light touch is enough, a little more brilliance, and everything changes. The room seems more alive, fresher. And, strange but true, the mood also improves. It is a small intervention that gives great results, without complications or crazy expenses.
So why not start right here? You don’t need to be experts, just want to want it. A simple gesture, within the reach of anyone who is good for both plants and those who observe them.
Because the leaves of internal plants lose brilliance and you have to polish them
The platin that is created on the leaves is a kind of invisible mixture: there is air powder, the steam of the kitchen, a pinch of smog if you keep the windows open. It is slowly deposited, suffocating the plant. Not only ruin the aesthetics, but also slows down photosynthesis.
Polish is not a whim. It serves to make them breathe, to maintain them active and prolong its vitality. It is a light operation, almost a ritual. Already with a simple damp cloth you can do a lot. But if you want a more lasting effect, there are natural tricks that make the difference.
How to polish the leaves naturally
There is no need to empty belief or make magic. The most effective methods are those that have always been used, almost handed down by chance. And they still work today, without complications.
Some make you smile as simple, others surprise for the effectiveness. But everyone has one thing in common: they respect the nature of the plants and give visible results without stressing them:
- Milk and water: a part of milk, two of water. A cloth is soaked, it squeezes well and pass on the leaves. The result is discreet, but effective. And it also smells a little.
- Chiara beer: it seems strange, but it makes miracles. Used cold no, better at room temperature. A cotton ball, two past, and the green returns alive.
- Light oil: Neem or mineral, in very small doses. A few drops on a dry cloth every two to three weeks. He exaggerates those who want the plasticized effect.
- Apple cider vinegar and water: just a spoon diluted in a glass. Ideal if the tap water has left traces of limestone.

But watch out: more than the product, the rhythm counts. Once every two weeks it is enough and advances. Better little, but regularly.
What is better not to do
There are also things to avoid, and they are not so obvious. For example, it is better not to use the supermarket spray polishing: they seem effective at the beginning, but in reality they form a film that suffocates the leaves. Even cleaning in direct sunlight is a bad idea, because the drops can leave spots or even burn the surface.
Another mistake? Use rough cloths. Although they look harmless, they can easily scratch. And watch out for the water sprayed too generously: it can accumulate in the wrong points and cause mold, especially at the base of the plant.
For the most dense or delicate plants, there is a beautician makeup that always works: a clean makeup brush to remove the dust in the most difficult points. It makes its duty and not stressed.
Polishing the leaves is a tiny gesture, but makes a huge difference. Plants seem more alive, and the most cared for house. It is not just a question of appearance: it is a way of taking care, without haste, carefully. And every now and then, even with a little tenderness.

Because after all, very little is enough to make them shine. And to make us shine a little too.
