Lula meets the president of Angola

João Manuel Lourenço State Visit includes meetings, lunch with the petista and event with representatives of rural producers

The President (PT) receives this Friday (23.MAI.2025), from 10am, the president of Angola, (MPLA) at the Planalto Palace, in Brasilia. There are a forecast of signing acts by 2 leaders at noon, followed by joint statement to journalists.

The visit of Lourenço and the Angolan first lady is held during Africa’s Week in Brazil. In Brasilia, the event was also closed on Thursday (22.MAI), which brought together leaders and representatives of African countries in 3 days of debate.

After the joint statement, Lula and Lourenço have lunch at Itamaraty with their first ladies, Janja Lula da Silva and Ana Dias Lourenço. Also at the headquarters of the Chancellery, in the afternoon, from 2:30 pm, the president, with the Angolan counterpart, has representatives of rural producers.

2023: Lula in Angola

The coming of Lourenço to Brazil returns to the country from August 24 to 26, 2023, in the first year of its 3rd term. At the time, the Brazilian president was awarded the highest distinction of the Angolan state, the Order António Agostinho Neto, and in the tomb of the politician, leader of the struggle for independence of Angola.

The purpose of the trip was to sign 11 cooperation agreements between Brazil and Angola. Lula also participated in the Brazil-Angola Economic Forum, in which 50 Angolan and 200 Brazilians participated in the sectors of food, pharmaceutical products, aviation and agricultural machinery.
