After the Brazilian Institute of Environment and Renewable Natural Resources (Ibama) and simulated in a block of the Foz do Amazonas Basin, on the equatorial margin, President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva defended a “active participation” of the state in the research of oil and fossil fuel.
– We have to work harder so that foreign trade flow is the size we think of Brazil. It is important for Petrobras to have active participation in prospecting, fossil fuel research, oil and gas-said the petista on Friday alongside Angolan President João Lourenço, in the Planalto Palace.
Last Monday, Ibama authorized the concept of the Plan for Protection and Service to Oleada Fauna (PPAF), presented by Petrobras as part of the Individual Emergency Plan (PEI) for maritime research activity in a block of the equatorial margin. The company will be able to do surveys and simulations in the region where you want to research new oil reserves.

The analysis by the Ibama of the Petrobras Fauna Rescue Plan in case of oil leakage is seen within the organ, as the last stage of the well licensing process that the state -owned company wants to drill in the region.
Ibama has already denied authorization for Petrobras to drill the research pit in the area, but the state appealed and the agency has not yet given its final decision. The second authorization is a step taken by Petrobras in search of the final permission for drilling.
Following Ibama’s decision, the national direction of the National Association of Career Specialist Career (Ascema), which brings together officials from the Institute, published a “protest note” against the body’s decision. In the statement, published on Tuesday, the entity recalls that Ibama’s staff has already given definitive opinion against the release of oil exploration activity in the region.

The Ascema still considers authorization a political decision that ignores the work of the agency’s professionals. “We regret that the decision of the presidency of the agency is based on elements that disregard the technical and methodological rigor of the opinions issued by the specialized areas of the institute itself,” says Note.
