Napoleonka is a cookie loved all over the world. It consists of from two flakes of puff pastry, which usually translates with pudding creamwhipped cream, cream or meringue cream. Its top is covered with powdered sugar.
Hearing the name “Napoleon” The first association is Napoleon Bonaparte. In fact, this dessert has nothing to do with the former French emperor and does not come from France at all.
Contrary to appearances, Napoleonka does not come from France, until Italy. Specifically it comes from Naples. It was the Italian version of the French Mille-Fueille. For this reason, in French, the dessert was referred to as the adjective of “Wylotain”, meaning “Neapolitan”. However Most likely as a result of incorrect translations whether the twists, in some European countries, is called “napoleons” or just “napoleon”.
Since I made Napoleonki at home from the recipe of my future mother -in -law, I never went ready again to the pastry shop. They came out absolutely perfect. I used for them ready puff pastrywhich saved me a lot of time, and yet they did not lose their quality and taste.
Napoleonek to make You will need:
- 2 flats of puff pastry,
- 3 cups of milk,
- 1/2 cup of sugar,
- 200 g of butter,
- 4 yolks,
- 2 tablespoons of potato flour,
- 2 tablespoons of wheat flour.
Expand the dough and place in the baking trays and gently prick with a fork in several places. Then Bake them in an oven preheated to 200 degrees Celsiusuntil they are browned, i.e. about 10 minutes. After baking, put them off to cool.
Pour into the saucepan 2.5 cups of milk and boil them with sugar and butter. In a separate dish, mix the rest of the milk, yolks and flour. Add the mixture to the boiling mass and mix vigorously until it thickens. Set aside to cool the pudding.
When it cools gently, pudding Put on one of the baked bottoms. Cover the mass with a second piece of puff pastry. Store the cake to the fridge for a few hoursto make it cool.
Cut the dessert in an average amount of squares. Napoleonki serve generously sprinkled with powdered sugar.
