With Cornelia Richter, a down -to -earth professor in Austria is the first bishop

There was a time when Cornelia Richter went at a distance to religion. She confronted a fundamentalist interpretation with a theology about which she thought: “It can’t be so stupid!” Richter said in an interview. Judges spent ten years of criticism of religion. An experience that had brought her a deeper understanding of the Protestant faith. On Friday she was elected as the new bishop of the Evangelical Church in Austria – as the first woman in this office.
