In a notification to its customers around 11 pm, Wise says: “Convert before midnight and pay 1.1% of IOF. New value of 3.5%, approved by the government, comes into force after this time.”

The IOF for international operations will rise to 3.5% in operations with international cards, foreign shipments, short -term external loans, and financial investments abroad.
The rules also change to private pension plans and some corporate credit operations in Brazil.
The measure is part of a government effort to increase the collection and meet the zero deficit target by 2025. In all, R $ 31.6 billion were also frozen from this year’s budget.
