Fog and non -functional systems at San Diego airport contributed to a tragedy of a private plane with 6 victims.

At the airport in the US city of San Diego, where it planned to land a collapsed private aircraft, there was a fog, there was no lights on the runway or the system of bad weather warnings, the National Safety Authority (NTSB) said on Friday. The cause of the accident, which probably claimed the death of all six people on board the aircraft, is still clarified, TASR writes according to AP.

The accident occurred on Thursday around 03:45. Local Time (12:45 pm CEST) in a military residential complex in the Tierrasant district. The Cessna 550 aircraft was directed at Montgomery’s-Gibbs Airport in San Diego and there was poor visibility in the fog area. According to the NTSB, the pilot knew the pilot despite the failure of the meteorological system that eliminated the surge because he received information about the weather from the nearby air station.

Landing conditions for problems

According to the audio recording published by Liveatc.net, it is clear that the pilot was aware that the weather conditions for a small airport landing are not ideal, and as dispatchers spoke about the possibility of redirection to another airport.

The authorities have published an official announcement that the lights on the Montgomery-Gibbs Airport are out of service, but it is not clear whether the pilot has checked it. According to the recording, he also knew that the weather warning system was inoperative. Finally, he was heard that he would stick to the plan to land at Montgomery-Gibbs Airport. The plane crashed approximately three kilometers from there.

The victims and damage

Among the victims of the accident are two unnamed employees of the music agency Sound Talent Group, its co -founder Dave Shapiro, as well as former drummer of the metal group The Devil Wears Prada.

There were no deaths on the ground when the plane has fallen, but it caused a fire of at least one house and more cars. Eight local residents were taken to the hospital who inhaled smoke or suffered other injuries. The damage was recorded at about ten houses. Before the impact, the machine also captured the power line.
