Countries have aligned mutual interests in the areas of security, human rights, agricultural and energy
The governments of Brazil and Angola signed 4 bilateral agreements this Friday (23.MAI.2025) during the state visit of Angolan President João Lourenço. The event was held at the Planalto Palace in Brasilia.
The president (PT) and João Lourenço aligned mutual interests in the areas of international security, human rights, agriculture and energy.
The ceremony was attended by Angolan and Brazilian ministers and authorities. During speech, Lula defended the importance of amplification and diversification of commercial flow with Angola.
“It is important to remember that Brazil has had a commercial flow with Angola of $ 4.5 billion and now we are only $ 1.5 billion, which means we have to work harder so that we make our foreign trade flow the size we think that our countries have ”he said.
Here are the bilateral agreements signed between Brazil and Angola:
- memorandum of understanding for the development of bilateral cooperation strategies for the exchange of good practices for the promotion and defense of rights of people with disabilities, leprosy and protection of children and adolescents. Ice A (PDF – 173 KB);
- Memorandum of understanding in research and development and projects of interest in upstream (beginning of the oil extraction process). Establishes guidelines between Petrobras and Sonangol To evaluate opportunities, align the base and develop cooperation for research and development and innovation in the areas of renewable energy, oil and gas, technology and training. - memorandum of understanding between the PF (Federal Police) and the National Police of Angola. It seeks to deepen cooperation in facing transnational organized crime through information exchange and technical advice on drug trafficking and psychotropic substances to terrorism, trafficking in persons and promoting illegal immigration, forced labor, hatred crime, torture and violations against human rights, illegal firearms, money laundering and cyber crimes. - strengthening project between the Embrapa (Brazilian Agricultural Research Company) and Brazilian Cooperation Agency for the sustainable development of semiarid regions. Seeks to strengthen family farming in southern Angola. Here’s (PDF – 624 kb).
