The President of the Republic, MARCELO REBELO DE SOUSAsaid on Friday that he will only advance in constitution of the future government after re -speaking to PS, arrives and PSD; And it will not be before May 28, Wednesday.

And finally, the conversation with the Prime Minister’s partywhich naturally has to know what the other parties think to know what they count on, ”said Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa.
The President of the Republic continued: “Therefore, Until the 29th we will wait for the provisional results of the 28th (votes of emigrants). Let’s wait for the position of those who want to take the lead of the PS and let’s wait to see if the arrival passes the second party (…) and the opposition leader or not. ”
It is recalled that, for now, PS and arrives are with 58 deputies, after the votes of the voters living in Portugal; With advantage to the socialists, who had 49,000 more votes. But the votes of emigrants can give new victory upon arrival, as happened in 2024, and put André Ventura’s party as the new opposition leader, with more deputies than the PS.
Faced with journalists’ insistence on whether he seems to have found a better or less bad solution of governability, the President of the Republic said he preferred to wait to see while recalled to be a “optimistic”.
