A portrait of the former councilor, murdered in 2018, who refers to the image of Our Lady of Sorrows sowed the discord between councilors Amanda Vettorazzo (Union) and Luana Alves ()
This Friday (23), Amanda went to the prosecutor with a criminal news to ask for the initiation of an inquiry to investigate whether there was a crime against religious sentiment.
The portrait is part of the exhibition women who resist state, which is supported by Luana, and is installed in the entrance lobby of the Anchieta Palace. The work done in embroidery is by the doctor Maria Goretti.
“It is an unacceptable affront to the Christian faith. The image profoundly hurts the Catholic belief and should never be exposed. Who decides who is holy is the Catholic Church exclusively and not the PSOL or any political group,” says Amanda.
To the Public Prosecution Service, Amanda wrote that Our Lady of Sorrows symbolizes to Catholics the pain supported by Mary with the crucifixion of her son. “Of course disrespect for the Catholic faith, in presenting a non -holy woman, as if sanctified it was.”
Luana counteracts her colleague and says it is not a parody, but a tribute to Marielle.
“The work is not intended to replace dogmas or symbols of the Catholic faith, nor” canonize “Marielle Franco. Instead, he proposes a dialogue between the suffering of the mother of God, archetypal figure of pain, resistance and love and the martyrdom of black and peripheral women who, like Marielle, are victims of state violence,” says Luana.
