MPAC bets on meme to alert about the dangers of fake news about vaccines

Amid the increase in misinformation on social networks, the Public Prosecutor of the State of Acre (MPAC) has decided to adopt a lighter and more accessible language to make the population aware of vaccine -related fake news dangers. This Saturday (24), the agency published in its official profiles a humorous image using the character Hello Kitty to illustrate some of the main disseminated lies about vaccination.

In meme, Hello Kitty appears in various situations, demonstrating perplexity and confusion in the face of false statements such as: “vaccines change the DNA of humans,” “vaccines have liquid chip and artificial intelligence for population control,” “vaccines have no scientific proof” and “taking the flu vaccine will give you flu.” The publication reinforces the role of MPAC in combating misinformation and defense of public health.

In the caption, the MPAC warned: “False news about vaccines put their lives at risk. They spread fear and misinformation, causing many people not to be vaccinated. Meanwhile, viruses and bacteria that cause various diseases continue to circulate and, without protection, everyone is vulnerable.”

The agency also stressed that vaccination is safe, effective and remains the main ally in disease prevention. With the arrival of the period of highest incidence of respiratory diseases, the recommendation is for people to look for the nearest health unit and immunize, especially against the flu.
