Last Thursday (22/5), criminals mobilized the Amazonas Civil Police () for an unprecedented operation. A load containing more than one ton of hashish and marijuana, valued at R $ 24 million, was found hidden in a compartment called the “submarine caleta” of a vessel near Manaus.

This was the first time PCAM found drugs hidden in a type compartment on a vessel. At the time, Kaleby Ramos dos Santos, 24, a suspect who was already being investigated by the Narcotics Investigation Department (Denarc), was arrested in the act.

Information provided by Delegate Rodrigo Torres, director of Denarc, reports that this seizure is unfolding of others that the department has performed. This time, the investigation started approximately 20 days ago.

“Denarc’s investigation team found that the vessel was coming from Japurá (744 kilometers from Manaus), carrying this large amount of drugs. Then we began to monitor the descent of the narcotics and identified that the illicit material would reach the close of the Panair Fair, in the Educandos neighborhood, the delegate said.

According to the delegate, the police team made steps for three days at the scene and the boat was not located in the area. At first, in the early hours of Thursday, the civil police advanced through river and found the vessel near Manaus.

“During the approach, it was possible to locate the target of this investigation, which would be the Karet. He was already being investigated and was responsible for transporting the drug. When searching the vessel, it was possible to find more than one ton of hashish and marijuana hidden in the” submarine “, resulting in a loss of $ 24 million to organized crime,” said the delegate.

In addition to the drugs, the vessel and the “submarine caleta” were also seized.

PCAM General Delegate Bruno Fraga stressed that this is the fifth seizure of coping with drug trafficking in the Amazon in the last 10 days.

“The strategic intelligence of the Narcotics Department has allowed the” underwater kleta “to be located, and it is possible to grasp more than one ton of hashish and marijuana. The Civil Police will continue to intensify this work of apprehension to drugs, proving to our society that we are engaged and committed to combating drug trafficking, not only in our capital, but in the state,” he emphasized.

The operation was triggered through the Department of Narcotics Research (Denarc), with the support of the Coordination of Special Operations and Resources (Core-AM), the River Police Station (Deflu), the Manacapuru Interactive Police Station (DIP) and the IRS.
