The president of the CBF (Brazilian Football Confederation), Samir de Araújo Xaud, 41, said that Italian coach Carlo Ancelotti, 65, will have the autonomy to make his choices and will be “shielded of external factors” during his passage in command of the Brazilian team.
The now former Real Madrid coach embarked for Brazil on Sunday morning (25). Its presentation in Rio is scheduled for 15h this Monday (26), at Hotel Grand Hyatt, Rio de Janeiro. The technician will make his first call at the event.
At a news conference at CBF headquarters, Xaud wished Ancelotti a good job and reiterated that the greatest hope is the conquest of the sixth championship at the 2026 World Cup.
“I’ve had the first contact with him, yes, and he will have full autonomy to decide what is best for the Brazilian National Team. The coaching staff and Ancelotti will have full autonomy and we will shield him from any external situation that may have. They need this autonomy to do their work with excellence,” he said.
Cartola also stated that the Brazilian team’s shirt will be green and yellow, without mentioning a possible red shirt that would be released next year.
Among the promises made for the beginning of this term, which runs until 2029, are readjusting the calendar of Brazilian football, with 11 dates for the state, improvement of arbitration, financial fair play and the creation of the league.
There was a discrepancy between what was said by the now president of CBF and what was released in a statement from the entity regarding the calendar of state championships. He mentioned 11, but the text speaks 12. At the press conference, Xaud repeated number 11.
“Our initial priority is the adequacy of the Brazilian football calendar. It is commitment to this management immediately implement significant changes in the calendar of competitions. I assume the commitment to promote, among other measures, the reorganization of state championships for a calendar of a maximum of 11 dates,” he explained.
