Council of Europe criticizes the demand for easier designation of criminal foreigners

Strasbourg-the Secretary General of the Council of Europe, Alain Berset, has rejected demands from nine EU countries, including Austria, after a new interpretation of the European Convention on Human Rights in the field of migration to be easier to deport foreign criminals. “The Court must not be used as a weapon – neither against governments nor from them,” said Berset on Saturday in a statement.
