The number of people, allergic to animals, increased after the pandemic of Covid-19. These are especially allergies to dogs and cats. This was stated for TASR by the President of the Slovak Society of Allergology and Clinical Immunology Miloš Jesecek.
“For example, the works comparing the incidence of animal allergy before Covid’s time and after the Covid times are very interesting. Even in terms of what has been happening and the increase in the purchase of pets, so indeed the objective occurrence of animal allergies, especially to dogs and cats,” said autumn.
He made it clear that cases of allergies to rags are also growing lately. “She still, 10, 12, 15 years ago, did not pose such a great risk in Slovakia, but at the moment to see an increase in the incidence, and that is the problem of pan -European,” He explained that it is an allergen that is gradually getting north of Slovakia. In the case of food allergy, it is a significantly increasing allergen throughout Europe. In his words, there are also cases of allergies to mold.
Autumn pointed out that the number of allergy sufferers is increasing. The causes are, in his words, especially lifestyle, environmental pollution, increasing aggressiveness of allergens, the advent of new allergens and the occurrence of viral and respiratory diseases.
Approached that half of all allergy sufferers are mostly allergic to mites. “This is a traditional allergen that we have here all year round, only with increased incidence especially in autumn and winterwhen in essence, as it starts to close in September, we start to heat, increase the humidity of the environment, so with about a monthly, two -month distance increases the incidence of mites in households, ”said autumn.
Also, he is also typical of allergy to spring woody plants. “It means birch and alder, then we have grasses, of which the most important allergen is a long -term Timotejka. And then we have so -called weeds and herbs, of which we are very typical of the north of Slovakia Palkina and south Ambrózia,” he explained.
