He will be in office until Tuesday (27.MAI.2025). Tolmasquim will leave the state -owned company to assume the role of advisor to Eletrobras, a privatized electricity company in 2022.
The decision was taken by the state -owned board of directors in a negotiated way with Tolmasquim. Two months earlier, he had notified Petrobras that he had been nominated for a place in the board of directors, in an election that would take place in late April.
Petrobras has evaluated possible conflict of interest, as both companies operate in the energy sector.
Tolmasquim will be interim replaced by the executive director of industrial processes and products, William France.

One of Tolmasquim’s latest actions at the head of Petrobras’ sustainability board was the elaboration of the updated version of, released on Friday (23.MAI.2025).
The document provides information on the company’s carbon footprint, lists accomplishments for reducing GHG emission (greenhouse gases) during processes such as the exploration, production and marketing of fuels, as well as pointing out more green energy sources.
Tolmasquim gave an exclusive interview to Brazil agencyin which it detailed information, such as the absolute Emissions of GHG from Petrobras operations totaled 47 million tons of carbon dioxide (CO²).
This level is in line with emissions of 2022 (48 million) and 2023 (46 million) e.
In the interview, the director expressed that his departure will not affect the decarbonization plans of the Energy Transition and Sustainability Board.
