A group of affiliates took the morning of Saturday (24) to discuss, demand the presence of representatives of São Paulo in the party convention and defend the preservation of toucans – as a party symbol.
At least 85 toucans, the affiliates, discussed the directions of the acronym for about three hours in the auditorium of the Union of Engineers, in the central region of. According to the event organizers, there were also 85 signatures collected in a motion with demands to the national executive, which will seal the party’s future in a convention scheduled for June 5.

In videos displayed on site, both Marconi Perillo and Paulo Serra, state president of the PSDB, pledged to accept what was possible from the requests made by the São Paulo wing.
At the table that presided over the event, Mário Covas Neto said the structure of Somos, a party to which he was affiliated from 2018 to 2024, is more centralizing and that this could undermine the internal policy among toucans. At the time of his departure from the PSDB, he complained that the acronym had distanced himself from his origins and disagreed with the decision to launch the then mayor of the capital, to the São Paulo government. He last year claiming to participate in an internal reformulation process.
“We can work differently from the PSDB, as the PSDB has always worked. And what we want at this event here, this manifesto, is to say the following: ‘Look, we prefer that the PSDB remains what it has always been.’
Former Senator José Anibal made a self-criticism claiming that the PSDB distanced himself from his social democratic side and from the basis, trying to counteract the PT. According to him, the party tried to avoid a “Malaise”, which in French means discomfort by avoiding boasting social programs and focusing on economic policies.

The PSDB even elected 99 federal deputies and seven governors in 1998 in the government, as well as 16 senators. In the last national election, 13 federal deputies.
The maintenance of the toucan bird as the main symbol of the acronym was one of the most debated topics this Saturday. As the most affiliates asked the word, the already emptied auditorium, began to rely on fewer and fewer people. Around 1 pm, many of the toucans complained of hunger. The speech of one of them, which explained why the toucan was “a Brazilian bird with national characteristics” was interrupted.
