Roses are rightly considered to be queens of gardens not only for their beauty, but also for a wonderful smell that will please anyone who passes by. But once the first unsightly dark spots appear on their leaves, there is nothing to wait for – immediate hit can prevent the worst.

What stains is we talking about now? They are at first small, but they are gradually expanding and the distinguishing sign of this problem is the purple hem around their edge. It is a manifestation of black spots of roses, a very aggressive fungal disease that can torment the plant over time, unless we intervene in time.

Heat and damp – that’s a big problem

Like all other fungal diseases, black spots of roses are best in warm and humid environments. The rainy spring and the adjacent hot summer are therefore very risk factors that we should not overlook. It is always true that we will solve the problem in the beginning much more easily than if we let it grow.

Head to the fight

If you do not notice the first small spots, you will certainly not miss their larger stages, which even gradually merge into even larger areas. Overall, the leaves turn yellow and even start to fall after a short period. It is logical that if the plant loses a larger part of them, it will not have the power to fight for their lives and the worst may occur. Therefore, weapon weapons immediately as soon as you notice the first dots. Let us realize that in this case it really counts every day – and actually an hour.

Infested leaves need to be removed

The first step we simply have to take is to remove all visibly attacked leaves. It is not just those that are still on the plant. We have to collect all the fades. Ideally, dug everything under roses. The collected material can be hidden spores that would attack other parts of your garden queens. Everything we have removed from the surroundings of roses must be burned or thrown into municipal waste. Avoid the temptation to postpone such leaves on compost, just unnecessarily contaminating its entire content.

Do not neglect therapy

If there is nothing left on roses or in their surroundings that visibly resembles the mentioned (or other) diseases, the therapy comes with fungicidal products. At the moment, do not think about alternative solutions, chemistry is the only thing that can really help. Perhaps only when you managed to find out the problem at the first infected sheet, more environmentally friendly variants, such as horsetail or garlic extracts, will also help. However, it is always necessary to repeat the spray, even when using commercial products. The instructions can be found on the packaging.

Winning Battle does not mean a winning war

If you managed to intervene in time and after a few weeks you do not see other attacked leaves, you can congratulate, you probably won this fight. It is up to you whether you win the whole war, because its next battle can burn at any time and at any point in your garden. The best defense is, of course, prevention that may consist in removing the conditions that lead to the development of molds. What can we do?

Edit the conditions for roses

Definitely do not leave roses growth in weeding environment that maintains moisture. Place them with sufficient spacing so that the air can flow enough and avoid, if possible, the dressing on the sheet. Finally, there are roses that are less susceptible to black spots of roses. The next time you choose another plant for the garden, think about this feature. You will save a lot of worries.
