On Sunday night, May 25, a widespread confusion ended in firearm shots at Alameda das Águas, one of the busiest points and visited by tourists in Mâncio Lima.

The episode took place around 8:30 pm, a few hours after the end of Hermecílio Barreto de Lima Cavalcade, a traditional event that mobilized thousands of people throughout the day as part of the celebrations for the 48th anniversary of political emancipation of the municipality.
According to popular reports, the confusion began suddenly, and in videos recorded by witnesses it is possible to hear several shots. It is not yet known what motivated the turmoil, but preliminary information indicates that the shots were made by an unidentified popular, who fled the scene shortly after the shots.
The Military Police were called and has been at the scene, but so far there is no confirmation of injuries or official information about arrests. The author’s identity of the shots remains unknown, and the case is being investigated.
Residents of the region and alameda das Águas goers report moments of panic and concern for safety in public places, especially after major events such as this weekend.
The Civil Police must assume investigations to clarify the facts and identify those involved.
