Social isolation and loneliness can lead to feelings of worthlessness, loss of self -worth, emotional problems, loss of hope or self -harmful behavior. This was pointed out by the Slovak Red Cross (SRC). According to him, psychological first aid can help. He recommended, among other things, trusting to loved ones.
“Psychological first aid can give a sense of understanding, safety and linked lonely with other people Or with services that can help alleviate their emotional and social needs, ”he noted on the social network.
In managing the feelings of loneliness, he recommended, for example, trusting to loved ones, establishing new contacts, engaging in volunteering or groups. “Try not to compare yourself to others. (…) Prioritize the care of yourself and your mental health,” appealed. At the same time, he urged people not to be afraid to talk to a psychotherapist or therapist.
