Mara Farget, former director of the Pinel Institute, psychiatrist and psychologist, is accused of using her patients’ weakness as a tool for manipulating her and taking money from them.
The case was exposed by “Fantástico” this Sunday (25/5), the TV Globo show talked to victims of measures to understand the impact of extortion crimes.

One of the victims, who declined to be identified, says that Mara vented on financial difficulties and personal issues during the sessions.
“I was getting mental confusion. My cousins realized there was something wrong. That’s when I said, ‘Well, Mara asked me for money and it’s up to me,” he says.
The same victim reports that she even loan from over $ 90,000 and live in favor at the family home, all to help her doctor who allegedly needed to pay her husband’s treatment.
Mara Farget was indicted by estelionato and made an agreement to pay the 90,000 debt in installments. In addition, the psychiatrist had her medical record revoked, but continues to act in the area.
In another case, the doctor came to relate to the daughter of one of her patients and also asked for money often. The family ended a debt of $ 800,000.
The court also condemned Mara in this case, the psychologist should reimburse the family at $ 900,000. The decision is from 2017, but the debt has not been paid so far.
