In general, to effectively get rid of snails with and without a shell, you need to know what these molluscs don’t like. You need to plan the bed so that it is found on it. It is worth sowing them near vegetables, which are extremely pharmacy for them, i.e. strawberries, raspberries, cucumbers, rhubarb, lettuce or cabbage leaves. Near these plants will work: garlic, onion, lavender, dill, rosemary, mustard, thyme, marjoram, sage, savory, calendula. To strengthen the barrier that will make snails not to our crops, you can also crush coffee grounds mixed with cinnamon soda and lemon zest. You can also prepare a trap from a yeast solution. It should also be remembered that snails set off on the evening, so always water the plants in the morning. Molluscs like moisture, so the evening watering makes it easier for them to reach appetizing morsels.
Homemade trap for snails
The second way to get rid of snails from the garden is to use products that molluscs like very much. The smell of yeast is very lure for them. You can prepare a trap for them. We crush and dissolve in 0.5 liters of warm water. We can also add a teaspoon of sugar. With such a mixture, we fill, for example, a jar and bury it so that it is at the ground level. Snails tempted by the aroma of yeast will fall into the jar and will not get out of it. We will get a similar effect when we use beer instead of a yeast solution. Unfortunately, such traps must be set every day. In the fight against snails, you can also use diatomaceous or basalt flour available in garden stores. Indian running is also an effective way to get rid of snails from the garden. They are ducks for whom snails are a real delicacy. It is worth mentioning that hedgehogs and frogs are also a natural enemy of snails.
